Might see a few changes to the website.
0

So, I am going to hire a company to update a lot of outdated functions of the forums before the site just crashes again. You might notice some little differences.

One thing I am having them fix is the broken feed on the home page linking to the ChicagoBears.com news feed. It appears to me that the site no longer offers a news feed, hoping I am wrong, if that’s the case what suggestions do you have?

I was considering a feed to NFL.com but would rather keep it more Chicago Bears only. Maybe one of the local news sources, but which one..? So looking for any (intelligent) input from guys. What you think might be good to see in that spot if I can’t link to the ChicagoBears news feed again.

I don't know what is meant by "feed" but the official website still offers a news section with stories coming out regularly.  It is subdivided now into four catagories (Latest news, chalk talk, game recap, and roster moves) which may be the reason for the break in the link.

When you choose the bears from NFL.com it  links you to the news section of the bears website

Other than that any Bearcentric news feed is good with me so long as it does not require a subscription to access.

That is the main drive to finally hire an outside company to take over regular updates and maintenance for the site. I am just not skilled enough to handle it on my own. And I promise I will not link to some paid site.

So, most of the initial updates have been done. The Chicago bears site no longer offers an RSS feed so I switched it out to bleacher nation. They have decent stuff.

Please let me know here of any new issues you are experiencing.

visually it looks the same to me with the exception of the news feed being live now and the chat box looks a little different with recent "my chats" appearing in the right hand chat window below the chat rooms catagory.

security is same.

We now only have a quote button...where did the edit button go? The report button never worked, but the reply button was nice. Now if you are not on the first page of a thread, you will have to scroll back to the top to find a reply button.

You just wait till next year!

2020 is the year the Bears put it all together!

Go Bears!

If there is going to be a "like" button, there should also be a dislike button. If we are gonna go all social media style. Good thing it is disabled on your own comments, cause there are some who "like" their own posts all day long.
