This is really hard to read about Forte.....

The man was a total team player while he was a Bear!

But sometimes the body won't obey what the mind wants to do, I myself am starting to fall into this same situation! As I've heard from people in the past, " It's hell to get old!" But a young Forte will always live on in my mind!

RB is the position were this is most readily apparent. Production drops off fastest at that position, thus the saying "never overpay a 30 year old running back", I call it the Shaun Alexander syndrome.

I really like Forte on the Bears until it became clear he struggling to stay on the field. I think his insistence on staying in games, when he should have been pulled, led to his dismissal. He tried to play even when he knew he was hurting.

If I remember correct, he missed some time last year. As much as I hate it, it looks like Pace cut ties at the right time.

Train like you are 2nd, but play like you are 1st.

Then you have selective memory. Matt was injured his last season on the Bears. This is why we saw so much of Jeremy Langford in the first place. Matt was hurt and missed 3 games. He missed 2 last year too with the Jets.

Age catches up to RBs fast.

As much as I like Forte, it was the right time to part ways with him. Matt is a bell cow back, the rest of the league has moved to the RB by committee.

Perhaps it's semantics but I would hardly refer to that as "struggling to stay on the field".  Now Charmin "struggled to stay on the field", Royal struggled to stay on the field, White, Houston have struggled to stay on the field, Forte was pretty much an Iron man in respect to his position and the amount of time he missed to injury.

Iron man? Hhmm? Or he just did not want someone else getting his reps? He played hurt a lot and the team may have been better off had he just sat out and took the time to heal.

We both know we will never agree on this subject.

In respect to his contemporary peers at the RB position yes, iron man.  He didn't miss many games or snaps and if he played hurt as you say, it sure never showed up in his performance.  His stats are very consistant.

The Vikings will release Will Sutton, according to Chris Tomasson of the Twin Cities Pioneer Press. Sutton, who had one sack in four preseason appearances, was believed to be battling Datone Jones for the final spot at defensive tackle.

Sutton had 13 sacks at Arizona State in 2013, and the Bears drafted him in the third round in 2014. But Sutton failed to register a regular-season sack in 36 games.

According to Tomasson, cornerback Jabari Price, defensive tackle Chucky Clements, cornerbacks Sam Brown and Tre Roberson, linebacker Noor Davis, defensive end Sam McCaskill and tight end Josiah Price are among the team’s cuts. Receiver Moritz Bohringer and offensive guard T.J. Clemmings also will be released.

The Vikings will place receiver R.J. Shelton on injured reserve, per Tomasson, after Shelton fractured his foot in Thursday’s preseason game.
