I will remember Jimmy as a guy with a level head and a great sense of humor. Jimmy was the kind of guy that would consider another persons point of view no matter how strongly he disagreed with it. I think I've had some of my best debates in life, cyber or real, with Jimmy over the years. The only area I never entered into with him was politics.
The great thing about Jimmy is we could argue till we were both frustrated beyond belief with the others unwillingness to agree, but I would never go away feeling as though he had lost any respect for me because of it, and in turn I never lost any respect for him, and when that happened, it usually digressed into silly humor.
That was my favorite part. Jimmy really did have a great sense of humor. I will never forget some of the goofy stuff that evolved from conversations involving Jimmy Mac. Some of the more recent that come to mind are the Rat Pack, and the three musketeers, the running gags about packy's skirt, and his weird appreciation for that stupid turtle pic Mr. O would drop in a thread at the most appropriate times.
Jimmy is a big reason I followed along to this MB, and why I am still here today, and I am really gonna miss him.
Jimmy was the kind of guy we have all met. That guy that no matter how much a stranger could start and maintain a conversation with just about anyone....the gift of gab....and when it was time to go, you just knew that Jimmy was a guy you hopefully would run across again because you enjoyed talking to him. Really didn't matter the subject, but it was always interesting.
Jimmy was the board's newspaper on the doorstep. He always had posted a couple of threads about something Bears related before the sun came up, before heading out to start his commute. Usually 4:30 or 5 o' clock by the time stamp on his posts.
As everyone else has mentioned..Jimmy just touched you with his magic and you were hooked.
In the members list there is a box under Rank. I think it would be a nice touch to fill that in with "HALL OF FAME" behind JimmyMac's name. And could you sticky it at the top?
Would make a nice tribute to Chris if its possible......thanks
I second the motion, good idea Cob.
I love that idea.

I know how devastated you are by Jimmy's passing, my friend. I would read your posts in the thread about his illness and I could feel your sense of desperation as you tried everything you could to keep him upbeat. I know it doesn't matter much right now, but I want you to know how much I respect you for being that kind of friend.

Thank you Bill,
I think what you've said could be applied to all current members of this MB, yourself included. This is a great bunch of guys, and we've lost one our leaders. On this MB, Jimmy truly was a leader. He set the tone for acceptable behavior and bled blue n orange. I know I speak for all of us when I say again, he will be sorely missed.
I have read many a comment over the years regarding internet banter on many topics- "it's only the internet...it's only the internet..." No it isn't- it's life. A precious gift from God.
As evidenced by the comments in this thread who knew Chris a lot better than me, I am touched by the kind words to his memory. Class act all the way.
Thankyou Papa. Great stuff.

Butkus never wore an earring
I enjoyed your debates as well............ some of the best times I've had around these parts was agreeing with Jimmy in his debates with you.
