Chris (Jimmy Mac)
0

By now I'm sure you've all had a chance to read the update in Jimmy's thread. I'm not going to lie, I cried. I never met Chris, and I never will get that chance now. That will always weigh heavy on my heart. I'd like this thread to be about Chris. A thread dedicated to all the good memories we have. I know this is just a message board. But many of us have stayed in touch for many years through this format. I'm not in a positive mood so I'll hold off on my memories right now. But I wanted to give you all a thread to use. Gentlemen. I raise my scotch to Chris. He was my friend. I will miss him.

After all these years of being on this earth I didnt think it was possible to be so deeply saddened over the passing of a person I never actually met, I realize now that it is possible. Years of interaction with Chris on these Bear message boards has created a special kind of friendship. We kept each other company out on that ledge when the Bears sucked and talked each other out of jumping. I remember the time Chris let me borrow his Modhat for awhile which turned out to be not such a good idea as I am evidentely not Mod material, but I appreciated the gesture. When ever I take the trip down to Schamburg to get my fix of sliders at the White Castle on Golf rd, I will always think of Chris because I know that he got his fix of sliders there also. R.I.P. ol buddy until we post again on that big Bears message board in the sky.

I just remember JMF as a genuinely nice guy who never piled on or took a cheap shot. He had this way of injecting humor into tense discussions that kind of deescalated everything. It was just impossible not to like him. I guess I remember him most being in the chat room goofballing around, just hanging out with his Bears buddies having fun.

Man, I'm having a tough time dealing with this....

I think we are all a lil shocked at how his passing is touching us. I mean we've never even met. Yet I feel like I lost a friend. I remeber Chris from the original CBMB. I posted some pipe dream fantasy about how Rex Grossman was going to turn things around and take us back to the SB and win it.... I don't remember exactly what Jimmy said, but I got the feeling he was laughing so hard at my stupidity that he was having a hard time typing. I mean I laid it on thick... I think I was even describing the moisture on the blades of grass as Grossman throws a beautiful arching bomb to Devin Hester...... I'm sure he'd say he let me down easy.. But I assure you he didn't... wink

Hey Galad....

In the members list there is a box under Rank. I think it would be a nice touch to fill that in with "HALL OF FAME" behind JimmyMac's name. And could you sticky it at the top?

Would make a nice tribute to Chris if its possible......thanks

I will remember Jimmy as a guy with a level head and a great sense of humor.  Jimmy was the kind of guy that would consider another persons point of view no matter how strongly he disagreed with it.  I think I've had some of my best debates in life, cyber or real, with Jimmy over the years.  The only area I never entered into with him was politics.

The great thing about Jimmy is we could argue till we were both frustrated beyond belief with the others unwillingness to agree, but I would never go away feeling as though he had lost any respect for me because of it, and in turn I never lost any respect for him,  and when that happened, it usually digressed into silly humor.

That was my favorite part.  Jimmy really did have a great sense of humor.  I will never forget some of the goofy stuff that evolved from conversations involving Jimmy Mac.  Some of the more recent that come to mind are the Rat Pack, and the three musketeers,  the running gags about packy's skirt, and his weird appreciation for that stupid turtle pic Mr. O would drop in a thread at the most appropriate times.

Jimmy is a big reason I followed along to this MB, and why I am still here today, and I am really gonna miss him.

I'm looking into that Cob. There is a spot for Rank in the Design, but there is nothing programmed to that spot in the layout. As for keeping his name at the top. I can't do that since the list is set off last known login date. But I might change his password so I can log in as him. Although that just seems wrong. I did put something in his Sig. We can discuss how we'd like to remember him best. This thread is a good place for that.
