Bears hiring Chiefs exec Ryan Poles as new general manager

Chiefs executive director of player personnel Ryan Poles has accepted the Chicago Bears' general manager job, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported Tuesday.

Poles, 36, also reached the second interview stage with the Giants and Vikings. He has been in Kansas City for 13 seasons.

Around the NFL will have more shortly.

Bears dip back into that KC well looking for gold!

Welcome to Chicago Ryan Poles.

At least the Bears will not have to buy new monogrammed towels for him in the executive washroom, they can can just clean and press Ryan Pace's old ones!

Little known fact: Ryan Poles was a UDFA pick up of the Bears in 2008. He didn't make the roster, but once a Bear always a Bear!

Ryan Poles' One Condition to Accept Chicago Bears' GM Role

Poles is highly thought of and in the past year has been a finalist for four different openings. 

But Poles didn't blindly accept the job, he had one condition.

“From what I was told by somebody who I think would know, he told them, ‘OK, here's the deal. I'm doing the interviews, me, and I'm making the call. Don't tell me who (Bill) Polian wants to hire or who Ernie Accorsi wants to hire or who Virginia (McCaskey) wants. I'm picking my head coach or I'm getting on a plane to Minneapolis,’" David Kaplan said on the Under Center Podcast.

"And so they said, it's your show, so that's progress.”

NBC Sports Chicago's Bears insider Adam Hoge reported the same.
