Report: Bears want to interview Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, Glenn Cook

Posted by Charean Williams on January 10, 2022, 10:39 PM EST

The Bears are seeking a replacement for Ryan Pace, who they fired as General Manager on Monday. They have requested interviews with at least three executives around the league.

Kimberley Martin of ESPN reports that the Bears put in a request with the Browns to interview vice president of football operations Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and vice president of player personnel Glenn Cook.

Colts director of college scouting Morocco Brown also is on the Bears’ list of candidates.

Adofo-Mensah joined General Manager Andrew Berry in Cleveland in March 2020. Adofo-Mensah previously spent seven seasons with the 49ers, including two years as director of football research and development.

He is a former basketball player at Princeton, who earned his undergraduate degree there in 2003 before getting a master’s in economics from Stanford in 2013.

Cook joined the Browns’ front office in 2016 from the Packers, where he served as a pro scout from 2012-15.

I do not think looking at poaching FO personnel from the Browns is a good starting point.

Report: Bears request interview with G.M. candidate Morocco Brown

A candidate to succeed Ryan Pace as the Bears’ General Manager has been identified.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the team has requested an interview with Colts director of college scouting Morocco Brown. Brown interviewed for the Falcons before they hired Terry Fontenot as their General Manager last year.

Brown has been with the Colts for the last six seasons. The team has drafted players like running back Jonathan Taylor, guard Quenton Nelson, linebacker Darius Leonard, and right tackle Braden Smith since Brown has been working in Indianapolis.

Brown was also the Bears’ assistant director of pro personnel from 2001-07 and has also worked for Cleveland and Washington since leaving Chicago.

*****

At least the Bears already know this guy and can hope he learned a bunch from Chris Ballard in his time away from the Bears. Negative is, he worked under Jerry Angelo while with the Bears.

Joe Schoen to interview with Giants Wednesday, Bears want to speak to him

Posted by Josh Alper on January 11, 2022, 4:52 PM EST

Bills assistant G.M. Joe Schoen will be first up to interview for Dave Gettleman’s old job with the Giants.

According to multiple reports, Schoen will interview with the Giants to become their General Manager on Wednesday morning. He was quickly identified as a candidate for the job after Gettleman’s retirement was announced on Monday.

The Giants have not made any announcement regarding head coach Joe Judge’s future, which suggests that they’ll be discussing that topic with Schoen and other candidates for the job. Schoen may have an option to become a General Manager without having to deal with leftovers from Gettleman’s regime, however.

Multiple reports also say that the Bears have requested an interview with Schoen. They fired head coach Matt Nagy along with General Manager Ryan Pace on Monday, so the next Bears G.M. could be able to do more than rubber stamp someone else’s choice for the job.

Well Jeff Ireland will be able to ask their draft choices if their Mothers are Hookers!

A big pass on Ireland! Rick Smith too for that matter. Brown and Dodds are unknowns to me.

Same as with HC, I am not fired up about retreads. Guys that have already failed and sometimes failed hard should not be on their scope.

For GM opening, Chicago Bears request permission to interview Eliot Wolf

As in, the son of Ron Wolf, who took over as Green Bay Packers general manager in 1991 and catalyzed a run of organizational success that has lasted for three decades. The same Eliot Wolf who was himself part of the Packers' front office for 13 years, mostly under Ted Thompson.

Why no Rick Smith, Shadow?

And Ed Dodds resume looks damn good to me also!

I'd have to agree with Sluggo putting these 2 at the top of my list for GM.

Wanted: intelligent football savvy head coach. Contact George McCaskey.

I can see why Ireland should be passed over. What he said was a major mistake. I would like to replace him with Eliot Wolf. I think Dodd, Rick Smith, Morocco Brown and Eliot Wolf would be great choices for the Bears. I would be happy with any of the four.

Like I said Dodds is unknown to me. Name just didn't ring out.

Rick Smith has been out of football since 2017, correct? Wife had cancer and took time out to nurse her. (She died eventually) Not sure how hooked in he still is. Je was a great evaluator though. So I guess Smiths is a go.
