There is no question Chicago Bears need Fields to be the one. The history of QB failures is killing the fanbase. Another failure just might be the end. But that does bring us back to the question, are the Bears just bringing in one terrible QB after another, or are they squandering the talent when they do bring them in?
Right now the Bears are closer to being set for success than I can remember in a long time. They have several quality WRs and TEs. Players that can be a reliable outlet for a younger QB. They have two solid and talented pass catching RBs in Montgomey and Cohen. It's still that third leg, protection that will make or break it. It pains me to have to be heading into another season wondering if the OLine will be good enough.
Of course then we have to get past the coaching hurdle. Can Nagy bring the best out of Fields? Will he force the young QB to fit his version of what a Qb should be doing, like he did with Mitch, or can he look at what Fields brings to the table and implement a rookie favorable scheme? Or will he lean on Bill Lazor more. The games he let Bill call last season were a breath of fresh air. Easily Mitch's best string, or at least at the top.
Lots to give us hope this season... But I am firmly in the "show me" crowd these days. I have been burned too many times. It is sad that Chicago has screwed us over so many times that most of us can't even get excited anymore.
I'm not sure where the author thinks the Bears are loaded at WR and TE.
Following the conclusion to the upcoming season the Bears have one TE under contract......Kmet, and 2 WRs..... Mooney and Ridley! Hardly a stable of dependable options for Fields!
Pace will have to once again beat the bushes to fill a glaring position hole....besides trying to shore up the upcoming vacancies on the defensive side of the ball.
I hope the Bears don't, once again , totally screw the pooch in developing Fields as the best franchise QB prospect to come along in years!

The author is me you jackass. I know I have not been posting a lot lately, but I had hoped you would still recognize me. Next season is always a crapshoot, but this season, if he sees the field there is enough proven talent to let him succeed. The only concern is depth. Pace has still not managed to create a deep roster giving away all those draft picks.

Well... wait... are you saying it was a good idea or a bad one...?!? Seems like I can lose either way here... :/

A decent start to the 2021 season by Dalton with an eventual takeover by Fields, ending with the Bears in the play offs. A strong showing would then make the Bears with a hot new QB a prime landing spot for FAs. WRs, TEs and even Defensive players will be clamoring for a chance to come to Chicago and be apart of a new, fresh and wonderful Nagy led success story.

Who knows, Dalton might have a killer season. Wouldnt that be fun. Maybe regain some of those draft picks trading him in the offseason.

I am hoping for Foles to get in there and tear up a game or two also. Before the trade deadline would be nice. A minor injury to Dalton early and too soon for Fields to play would let Foles get in there (Or maybe he just tears up the Pre-Season and another team gets QB needy) Still hoping Mr. 50-50 can get something for that stiff. Foles has always been more lucky than good. He gets streaky. Dalton has the ability to be good, not great, but good. He had a bad year in Dallas and can bounce back. He has made the playoffs quite regular with the Bengals. Just could not perform well eneough to win a playoff game. Reminds me of Matt Stafford. (Rams are going to learn about that this year)
