We are eight games into the season. Based on the game results so far what changes would you make, if you could make changes?
Somehow fix the offensive line. We are weak at tackle & guard. The Coward experiment is over. Our swing tackle Spriggs is as bad as Coward. Infedi is slightly better than Coward. We need to bring in outside reinforcements. If we can't bring in experienced players. I would look at 7th round draft choice or practice squad players. They might not have experience, but could not be any worse than what we have. I would look very hard at benching Foles. With our poor line play Mitch might help extend plays with his legs, something Foles cannot do. Stop Nagy from calling plays. What about Ragonne calling plays? We need to add another back to spell Mountie. What do the rest of you think about possible changes?
Yeah the Coward experiment should be terminated .......period!
The Cordelle Patterson RB and kick return experiment should cease to exist also....put him up for trade tomorrow! Nagy can't figure out how to incorporate CP in the game plan without telegraphing the play to the opposing defense.
I don't know how you improve the OL now....every team is scouring the dumpsters looking for anything that can block a man in front of them ....there isn't much available! This group is a big indictment on Pace......how the hell do you think they were capable of protecting your QB? Oh!!!! That's right it was Harry H's fault.......well Castillo hasn't been able to polish the turd that the OL is , either! So...guess what? Maybe it's because the players suck!!!
I'd like to see some other RBs besides Monty and Nall as a change of pace to fool with the opponents defense!
Absolutely Nagy gives up the play calling!!!
Why is TE Kmet not more targeted on the offense??? Nagy keeps giving lip service about how he needs to be involved more.......well who the hell is calling the plays, dumbass?
Matt Nagy: "I know we need to run the ball more. I'm not an idiot."
CCob you are right about Pace, who should also be help accountable for the poor line performance.
Looks like pressure has started building up for both Pace and Nagy. Several articles identifying what is wrong with the Bears and potential fixes. Very few articles showing support for either one.
It's very difficult to come up with solutions that would have any positive impact, but I'll take a shot.
1) Replace Nagy as playcaller. DeFilipo hasn't been anything special when he's been in charge, and I understand neither has Lazor, so I don't know which would be better. I would suggest Defilipo, but I would also go with something radical like Foles calling the plays.
2) Give Nall significant carries. It's probably true that David Montgomery has been victimized by crappy lines. Still, it's been a year and a half and he's never produced. His 3.7 ypc is almost identical to his rookie year of 3.8 ypc. MAybe the run game would benefit from a straight ahead power runner like Nall since the holes close so quickly or never develop to begin with.
3) Let Kimet play te U position and see what you have. It's not like Grahm has been anything special. He's about where he was last year which seems to confirm he's done. Kmet has flashed, and it's insane not to let him develop when that position isn't producing much anyway.
4) Sign a Cordy Glenn: Seriously, can he possibly be worse than the bums the Bears are parading out there now?
When you bleed, make it orange and navy blue
Who's the only holdover from last season on the offensive coach roster? Everyone one was jettisoned except for one .....the OC! We were convinced this was the magic cure. But it's the same generic, unimaginative playcalling we saw last season, carried over into this season......we're right back in the same rut of second from last as far as offensive stats!
I just can't justify Nagy being allowed to be OC any longer......gawd I sound like a broken record!
You know what would really suck? Trubisky going to another team and finding out he wasn't that bad, and it was the o-line, scheme and playcalling that made it impossible for any QB to succeed.
You're partially right Billwade!
What would really suck if Biscuit went to a division rival, shows as you say he wasn't the bust, and the Bears end up having to face him twice a year!
I've read where the Vikings are really interested in pursuing Biscuit in free agency this coming off season. I wish Biscuit well...just not playing in our division.
Pace get your head out of your butt. I hope the Bears don't screw up and lose ARob in free agency. I grow tired of watching Pace bring in veterans with high guaranteed contracts who produce marginally, and watch ARob produce every week. What happened to the "We Take Care Of Our Own" philosophy? I hope ARob has not already decided he will be leaving in Free Agency. Bottom line I have seen enough of Pace's blunders in the draft, free agency pick ups and over paying for free agent players. I don't buy the argument that ARob wants more than the Bears think he is worth. Mr. Pace make better decisions and you would have had the money to pay ARob. Just frustrated as hell. Oh by the way Mr. Pace, I hope you are let go after the season along with Nagy.
I don't feel good about the Arob situation at all. I understand contract talks are over, so it looks like franchise tag or he's gone. On a roster lacking talent, Arob is the only player that could be considered elite, and the Bears are close to screwing that up. I have a sneaking suspicion sweat ted is involved in this one.
