Ha Ha Clinton-Dix Possibly on PUP List to Start Training Camp

This week marks the start of training camp for the Chicago Bears at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, IL. Without saying, it is the wish of everyone in the Bears’ brass, as well as Bears fans, to have each and every player entering training camp with a clean bill of health. Well, unfortunately, that won’t be the case.

It’s been said by general manager Ryan Pace that newly acquired safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix could possibly start training camp on the team’s physically unable to perform (PUP) list.

Ryan Pace says that Ha Ha Clinton-Dix is likely to start training camp on the PUP list due to a knee sprain he sustained at the very end of the offseason program.

Hopefully, this injury isn’t too serious and won’t derail the chances of Chicago’s defense improving on their dominant 2018 season.

In addition to the news of Clinton-Dix, offensive tackle T.J. Clemmings and defensive lineman Jonathan Harris could also be on the PUP list at the start of camp.

I wanted to say something positive... but shit it’s hard not to worry it’s the start of many. Outside of last year, the Bears have not faired well with injuries.

Train like you are 2nd, but play like you are 1st.

Nagy and Pace both downplayed his injury. They are just being cautious with him and the 3 other guys who may start on the PUP list.

Ryan and Matt were pretty sure that Miller and Burton would be full go.

Chalk Talk: How serious is Clinton-Dix injury?

 Larry Mayer

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How serious is the injury recently sustained by Ha Ha Clinton-Dix?
Joe P.
Flemington, New Jersey

Larry:

Based on general manager Ryan Pace’s comments Sunday at his pre-draft press conference in Decatur, the sprained knee that safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix sustained late in the offseason program is not very serious. Pace told reporters that Clinton-Dix and the two other players who will start training camp on the physically-unable-to-perform (PUP) list would only be sidelined for a short period of time. Said Pace: “We’ll be smart with those guys and how we ramp them in, like we always are.” As Pace mentioned, the Bears have always been very cautious with injured players. There’s no need to rush anyone back onto the practice field before they are fully recovered from an injury, especially a veteran like Clinton-Dix early in training camp.

The Bears placed three players on the physically unable to perform list earlier this week. One of them has come off.

Chicago activated defensive lineman Jonathan Harris on Thursday, the team announced.

Harris signed with the Bears as an undrdafted free agent.

In four seasons at Lindenwood, he appeared in 43 games and made 183 tackles, 22 sacks, four forced fumbles, an interception, a fumble recovery and 38.5 tackles for loss.

He earned All-MIAA honors last season.

Safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and offensive lineman T.J. Clemmings remain on PUP.

Stop me if you’ve heard this before: Adam Shaheen missed Bears practice Sunday due to injury. Sadly, injuries have been the story of Shaheen’s young career.

This time, it’s his back that forced him out of action. To be more specific, Matt Nagy said Shaheen was dealing with a “sore lower back.” And while it’s entirely possible the Bears are just being cautious with the third-year tight end, his history of bumps, bruises and breaks makes this newest injury just another reason to worry whether he’ll ever be able to hold up in the NFL.

I hope sore means just that. I know Nagy is quick to sit guys and not risk minor aches and pains become full blown issues. Hard to hear that yet again Shaheen is missing time.
