Bears hosting Ha Ha Clinton-Dix

Posted by Charean Williams on March 13, 2019, 7:26 PM EDT

Washington reportedly wants Ha Ha Clinton-Dix back despite signing Landon Collins. There are other teams, though, that need Clinton-Dix more.

The Bears lost Adrian Amos to the rival Packers, leaving an opening in their secondary.

Chicago is hosting Clinton-Dix tonight and tomorrow, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports.

Clinton-Dix, 26, spent part of last season with Washington after the team made a trade with the Packers.

In five NFL seasons, he has one Pro Bowl, 456 tackles, 14 interceptions, 28 passes defensed and four forced fumbles.

Wasn't the knock on this guy in GB was he disappears during big games? He hasn't singed anything, so we will just have to wait and see.

I believe he could be along the lines of Amos but with better hands... pairing him with Jackson would make him a better player.

Any thoughts on bringing in former Chief Eric Berry?

He hasn't finished a game on the field since 2016... I honestly would not trust him anymore than offering him a 1 year veteran minimum contract to come into camp... I wouldn't be surprised if his career is just done.

Bama:

Yeah I remember Berry was activated very late in regular season or the start of playoffs after missing a number of scheduled games. But Nagy would probably know as well as anyone what Berry could still have left performance wise.

I would rather have Amos back than sign Dix

I liked Amos and was hoping that something might work out, but from a buisness standpoint I completly support how Pace is addresssing FAs. There are elite or game changing players that you open the checkbook for. Guys like Mack and Hicks, and likley Jackson soon enough.

Then there are guys like Amos that you really like, are good players, but you cannot over spend on. If they end up wanting their payday then you have to let someone else give it to them. Now we just have to hope that Pace succeeds in the next step, making sure that there are options to take over.

Train like you are 2nd, but play like you are 1st.

I'm playing catch up this morning and read and posted this before I knew Amos had signed with the devil.

Just a note, Dix and our own Eddie Jackson were teammates in college, for what it's worth.

And HHCD rated out basically the same as Amos on PFF... BoJack will just make him better...

I am curious if the connection between HaHa and Jackson will play a part in what happens. Familiarity with each other plays a big role in the overall performance of the pair. We lose that with Amos leaving, but would quickly replace it with HaHa.

My guess is it will likely come down to price. Is HaHa going to want the same pay day that safeties have been getting, or will he settle for a reasonable deal with the right team? The Bears would be a good fit for him. The above familiarity, a team built to win, and perhaps even the chance to give the finger to GB if he is holding a grudge at all.
